Next sunday, 10th of february is the Chinese New Year. Here, in Shanghai, people are celebrating these days. Next sataruday is New Year´s Eve and all restaurants and clubs have many "Chinese New Year´s Eve Party" for that night.
Also known as "Spring Festival" or "New Moon Year". In the Chinese calendar, winter solstice must occur in the 11th month, which means that Chinese New Year usually falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice.
Thos celebrations end on the 15th day of the firs month with the Lantern Festival.
Since next saturday all country is going to travel, because a lot of people are going to visit theirs families and the other usually go to Thailand or Philippines this time of the year.
The Sign of the Snake in Chinese Astrology is considered a sacred animal that brings good luck, also related to the wisdom and protection for what is usually seen in several buildings. Equivalent to Taurus or Pisces in Western astrology. The Sign of the Snake has has five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.
This 2013 is the Year of the Water Snake, also known like "Yin" that starts on 10th of february of 2013 and ends on 30th of january of 2014.
1. Tradition says that for the new year you have to swept with old brooms the house and then throw them away. No re-sweep the house during the next 15 days for not eliminating good luck (I love this! Hehe)
